The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest Far Cry instalment that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for embracing chaos and madness with equal glee, all while weaving captivating, politically driven tales. It’s no surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two creators whose creations have exemplified all of those things.

About the Series

Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game property, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' style by featuring a new location and ensemble in each season.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.

“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing belief and backing.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone series. Every title is a take of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a story,” said Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always examining the core of society through this intricate and turbulent viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and present our mutual unconventional, visionary sensibility to the television.”

A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
